Financial Aid
The NW
Institute of Esthetics, Inc. has multiple
ways to direct you for financial aid. Here are some of the
pathways that you may find helpful and we are happy to council you
as you work your way through the financial aid process.
Financial aid is not available to those who may come in from outside
of the country to study in the US.
Scholarships: If you are preparing for high school graduation
be sure to apply for scholarships: We are happy to accept your
scholarship funds large or small. Some students have funds
coming from multiple sources. Be sure to apply early if this is a
pathway you wish to follow. The funding classification is private
post-secondary career school. We also offer up to a $3000
scholarship for qualifying students. Please ask for details on
this when you visit with our admissions staff.
Workforce: Sometimes
referred to as Worksource, the name varies from county to county.
Most often you will find them near the unemployment offices as their
job is to help people find careers that will earn them a living
wage. These funds are a grant, not a scholarship. We do
keep a listing in our offices for the different counties so be sure
to ask when you come in for your preliminary consultation.
Vocational Rehabilitation: NW Institute of Esthetics is on the
State of Oregon lists as well as with some private organizations as
an approved school for worker re-training. If we are not on
your specific list, we can work with the provider to take care of
this so you can qualify.
We know the economy is making it more
challenging to obtain loans but we are aggressively working to link
to additional sources for our students. The good news is
that home equity loans and line of credit loans are offering some of
the lowest interest rates in years and may be a better financial
choice than some of the traditional routes. Personal loans are
available at very competitive rates of under 9%. We will be
happy to discuss all of your alternatives and possible financial aid
sources during your consultation.

Credit unions: sometimes offer assistance:
-
The Pentagon Federal Credit Union is one of those that does offer student
loans. This is for those with military service, whose
parents served in the military or you may join with a small
donation. Visit their website at
www.penfed.org. They
do have a local office.
Banks: Sometimes banks offer line of credit loans to students, including those attending
technical schools. This varies greatly from bank to bank. They may
say they don't offer school loans but they do offer personal loans
which may actually be less expensive.
Private outside funding
We do have funds available through a private outside lender.
Interest rates depend on your credit status. Payments start 30
days after funding and the loan term is two (2) years.
Funding is only available for programs of 600 hours or more. These
loans pay off quickly and end up saving you thousands of dollars in
interest.
Home equity loan. This is another
way that may be available to you if you own your home. In many cases
it has an attractive interest rate and repayment terms.
Family
funding. Many of our students receive funding through educational
savings accounts or from family members. We will help you consider all
of your
resources.
Internal financing. To make payment of your tuition
easier, NW Institute does allow you to divide your tuition over the
course of your education with us. As long as payments are kept
current there is no interest assessed. This is available for all of
our programs. This can be rolled into outside funding if you
need to extend your payments beyond graduation. Payments made
during school are interest free (as long as they are kept current),
but then do become subject to interest after graduation.
Payments may be made for a maximum of two additional years and may
be paid off at any time.
